BTW afaik it is not the machine but the network card address.oh dear i'd like to know this too , as getting an ip is quite tedious if the proxy blocks itJust a little background. The MAC address is unique for eachcomputer. Would be perfect to determine if a user has already voted in a poll or something like that. Much more reliable indicator than an IP address. Microsoft is now using the MAC address when issuing passwords for installing software.Let me rephrase my first request:Does anyone know how to fetch a user's hardware MAC address(http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/M/MAC_address.html) ideally using PHP but in any language, including assembly language. Urb well i certainly hope Chris Cook was right, and my MAC is not visible outside the network. (see his post). but then again, if you say MS is using it, that's pretty confusing.
