Hello all, hello admins,
please comment on my requests, maybe I am way off with my wishes; or
support it so it might get implemented.
(1) Message-Date
I believe the list server should set the message date to the timestamp when
the incoming message has been received, so all mailer clients have the
chance to sort list messages by date. Not everyone can use these
sophisticated clients that are able to display messages in a threaded
manner, based on the In-Reply-To header.
The date value of originating machines is sometimes way off, only today I
have received 3 or 4 messages from tomorrow, and one from next year... my
Eudora will never sort these correctly.
(2) Return-Receipt requests
Some posters seem to have their clients to automatically add
"Disposition-Notification-To" headers. This is completely inappropriate for
a mailing list, these headers should be removed.
(3) PGP signed messages
While PGP signing messages is a very handy feature when needed, it's more
than cumbersome in a list. Depending on the signature mime format, many
clients can't (or don't) simply display the message together with the
signature, but only display a link to the PGP plugin (again, my Eudora acts
this way). If possible I request to remove PGP signations from a message
body - it's quite useless in a list environment.
Thanks for listening, and I hope these requests are supported by a wide
audience...
(NB - sorry for being off topic ;->)
