I gave up and emailed Sam Ruby. Glad I Googled first, I thought the name sounded familiar. ;) Small world, he's at IBM, and the database I'm trying to talk to is IBM's UniData. One of the links that turned up says he takes perverse pleasure in integrating disparate things. So perhaps he'll take pity on me and write a PHP extension for UniData. It would probably take him all of two hours. ;) > I assume you mean rewriting the java layer to work without static > methods? I'm thinking you're right, that would solve your problem. It would, but the Java layer is done using best practices, tried and true patterns that go back to the GOF. > I guess in c, you could create a COM > object (assuming you are running on a windows box) and use new COM() in > PHP. Since I can already talk to the database from C, this seems to be a natural solution. > I think if I were you I would remove the static methods, (or > rather, rewrite them to work non statically), or re-write the thing in > PHP (yeah, go with door number 2, whoo hoo!) If I could write it in PHP, I would, but there is no PHP API to this database. Yet. -- Wendy Smoak Chandler, AZ
