Ryan,
I use Dreamweaver heavily for web development. I think it's an awesome tool for HTML/Javascript
development. However I won't let it touch my PHP code. I wrote one web application using
Dreamweaver and swore I would never do it again. The PHP code that Dreamweaver writes is really
bloated, complicated, pretty much an all-around mess. I've spent countless hours cleaning up
the PHP code that DW wrote.
I'll use DW for all my design work, layout, JS, etc., but I switch to code view and hand type
all my PHP. In the long run it saves me a lot of time, plus it gives my complete control over the
code which is really key when you have to go back in later and modify it.
Having said all that... if you *really* want to use DW to develop PHP, then check these books out:
Dreamweaver MX: PHP Web Development

Dreamweaver MX: Advanced PHP Web Development

You'll also find some articles and tutorials here:
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/dreamweaver/php.html
Don't expect too much help from Macromedia though. One of the articles in that Devnet section
is:
"Switching from PHP to ColdFusion - Struggling with PHP? Learn the power and ease of
ColdFusion."
Lol. What do you expect.... :-)
