user registration class

Hi, I need to set up a solid system where users can register, get passwords, get diferent levels of access, lost your password?, unsubscribe, ... and so on. I want to set it up and use it in several future websites. But I'm sure this code must have been written so many times before already. So what would be the best class/group of functions to build on?
