Problems with session id

Following problem:
When the session id is added automatically to the links on a php page
the php parser often omits the value of another get variable added to a link.
It looks like this.
<a href=xxx.php?id=&session_name=123456abc...>
In this case I cannot register the id variable as a session variable
because it is generated several times in a search result.
Using forms with a hidden field might be a solution but will cause much
more code.
PHP 4.0.1 PL2 is installed.
Is this a bug fixed in the latest version or is there a trick to resolve
this problem or at least an explanation for this strange behaviour?
