PDF and GD?

Anyone had any luck with installing PDFlib 3.x w/ PHP 4.0.2? PDFlib 3.0
doesn't seem to properly recognize the tiff library and keeps throwing
errors somehow related to jpegs. PDFlib 3.02 compiles w/out error and
includes the tiff support without problems but PHP doesn't seem to be
recognizing it even though when I run the configure script it claims it is
found. None of the pdf functions work afterwards.
Also the GD functions don't work, do I need to change my compile options
or downgrade the version I'm using or what?
