Subject: mail command??

Request: Send a blank email to php-general+get-16232@lists.php.net to get a copy of this message
if I send myself a test email like if (mail(.....)) echo "mail OK"; else echo "notOK"; assuming that all the parameters are correct, what could cause it not to send me the email. I tried it both calling mail directly myself and using the mime_mail class example from professional php and I tried to send to my various email addresses including my POP one, but I received nothing and the mail OK message was displayed, indicating only that the request was properly formed, according to the book. Do I have to configure something? or is there something bad about putting this on a web page?
