I sometimes get this, but I'm pretty sure its a browser thing. It hasn't
happened to me for some months, but I remember checking the same page with
IE and with Mozilla. The rogue character only appeared in IE, but as you
say, was nowhere to be found in the stuff sent to IE by php.
