Hi there,
Sorry for the length but I've tried to give as much information as possible.
I've been trying to add mcrypt to an already functioning PHP system.
My original, working "configure" script is this:
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-xml --enable-bcmath --enable-track-vars --enable-magic-quotes --with-gd=shared --with-xpm=/usr/X11R6/lib --with-imap --enable-ftp --enable-shared-pdflib --with-mcal=/usr/local/mcal --with-zlib --with-mhash
I am running a freshly built Linux 2.2.16 system built from scratch using the "Linux From Scratch HOWTO 2.3.7". Apache is 1.3.12 and PHP is 4.0.2. I'm running GCC2.95.2 and glibc2.1.3.
I've extracted, configured, made and installed libmcrypt2.4.4. (with the "--disable-posix-threads") (I've also tried libmcrypt2.2.7) When I run my php configure with the added "--with-mcrypt" (I also tried "--with-mcrypt=shared") it stops at the mcrypt section with the following error:
checking for mcrypt support... yes
checking for init_mcrypt in -lmcrypt... no
checking for mcrypt_module_open in -lmcrypt... no
configure: error: Sorry
Now, I've looked in the libmcrypt.a and .so files and I can see references to both init_mcrypt and mcrypt_module_open. Both libraries are shown when I type ldconfig -p and are in /usr/local/lib.
Any suggestions please?
TIA
Al
