Whay not "suggest" a sort of universal development basis for all the
(future) projects present in the section:
http://www.php.net/projects.php ?
I mean:
Some webmasters from php.net site should suggest a common development
direction in order for everyone to integrate all the projects in big and
fully featured one:
Example:
user id for every project should be put inside the $intProjectUserID
variable. (ie: $intPhorumUserID)
user session should be put into the variable: $intProjectUserSessID. (ie:
$intPhorumUserSessID)
Shopping cart total should be called $intProjectSCTotal. ($intMyShopSCTotal)
BannerMime format for phpAds project could be ($txtPhpAdsbnrMime)
Directives should suggest to use certain classes to cope with certain aims:
Form validation Directive should "suggest" to use FormValidationClass by Mr.
John Doe
and so on.
For databases:
I know databases are really different according to the differentaims of the
project. But maybe some parallel tables can be linked each other:
So
If PHORUM has a users's table, let's say "tblPhorumUsers"
and IMP has a user's table, let's say "tblImpUsers"
Someone that would develope an IMP+PHORUM site, could build up a database
based on PHORUM db, and add "tblImpUsers" to it (and the other tables from
IMP) and link the two users tables in it by using a "commonIdField" so user
n° 345 in tblImpUsrers table is the same of user n° 1564 in tblPhorumUsers,
both identified by the value commonIdField = 155. If a new user registers, a
new commonIdField in the universalCommonTbl table is created, and then the
user is replicated in every tblProjectUsers table.
So the site can offer IMAP + PHORUM Capabilities to all users-
This is just an example. A really simple one actually.
If there's a common directive basis for all projects, all projects' are
let's say PHPWay compliant.
So if a project is PHPWay compliant, it can be interfaced, or linked each
other to develop a multi function, multi pourpose environment (or site)
Something like a PHPConsortium that as well as W3C suggest specs for XML or
CSS or WebAccessibility, but in a scripting development environment.
I don't know if this is possible. My php knowledge is not that much to
evaluate all the aspects and problems of this issue, but many others are
better oriented to OOP and php.
