If there's anyone out there with > experience in these field --- PLEASE LET ME KNOW !!!! An altavista query for "url:index.php" (index.php anywhere in the URL) returns over 9000 pages. Go.com returns over 1600 for the same query. 44 sites indexed at Yahoo have index.php URL's. I think it's a pretty safe conclusion that the .php extension, by itself, isn't going to keep you out of the major engines. Having said that, search engines in general can have problems dealing with interactive dynamic content -- most will not submit forms, for example -- so you'll want to make sure that it's possible to get around your site by following links. There's an article at PHPBuilder titled "Building Dynamic Pages with Search Engines in Mind" that'd probably be worth working your way through.
