For simplicity, why not have:
$str1 = "

$str2 = "hello world";
$str3 = "

$str = $str1.$str2.$str3;
Then, when you want to change 'hello world' to 'how you doing':
$str2 = "how you doing"; $str = $str1.$str2.$str3;
