installing 4.0.2 on apache 1.3.12 as a DSO problems

Hi, I'm trying to install 4.0.2 as a(n) DSO on my Linux (mandrake 7.0, kernel 2.2.16, apache 1.3.12), and I get the following error after I compile and make install and run apachectl configtest: Syntax error on line 214 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `php4_module' in file /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO? I also notice that the new libphp4.so was installed into /usr/lib/apache , unlike my old php4rc1 which was installed into /usr/local/apache/libexec Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
