mysql question

I know this isnt a mysql mailing list but I was hoping someone
would have a quick answer for my problem.
I need to add data from one mysql table to another mysql
table in the same database. I have tried update, select/insert
load data etc and nothing seems to work.
Could anyone offer some advice?
