Due to the way I have my Apache configuration structure, the final part of building and installing
php from source doesn't complete
fully.
I have Apache running on a number of development and live systems and to make the management of the
httpd.conf simpler, I have a
number of other .conf files which are linked to httpd.conf via include directives. Apache works
fine with this. One result of this
is that the actual httpd.conf file is nothing more than a set of includes.
I typically build new versions of php on one of the development servers and then I want to copy the
required files across to the
other systems - libphp4.so is the main one to go into /usr/local/apache/libexec/. I don't want
to build from source on all systems.
The final part of by PHP build process (configure; make; make install), make install fails because
it can't find any LoadModule or
AddModule directives in httpd.conf - well it won't because these are elsewhere.
This shouldn't be that important as the directives I need will already be there, but I
don't know if any other important part of the
install is being missed out. Are other files needed or updated by make install?
If anyone can help with answers, or suggestions (merging the .conf files is NOT one!) then I'd
be very grateful. What would be the
files to move manually after doing the configure and make stages? A colleague suggests possibly
some library files. Does
libphp4.so contain everything I need for a running PHP enabled server?
