header problem

I want to add link with <a href=".."> tag inside a script that create
image. The script send header("content-type: image/gif") so I can not
display the link. I try to call the script that create image with
<IMG SRC=".."> tag, the result show the link but it doesn't display the
image
Any ideas how to work this out...??
