Hi everybody,
I'm coming from webdesign and client-side programming and new to all that
PHP stuff. Now I'm trying to build a db with MySQL.
The phpinfo() command printed out the following extract:
[...]
Syslog No additional information.
-----------------------------------------------------
MySQL Allow persistent links: Yes
Persistent links: 0/Unlimited
Total links: 0/Unlimited
Client API version: 3.22.30
Compilation definitions:
MYSQL_INCLUDE=
MYSQL_LFLAGS=
MYSQL_LIBS=
------------------------------------------------------
Socket functions No additional information.
[...]
My question is about the MySQL part - Does this mean that my
webspace-provider has some kind of MySQL installed and I just don't know how
to access it (would be question #2!) or is it just what my PHP-version would
support (if I had MySQL)???
Of course do I know mysql_create_db() or the mysql_connect() command, but
I'm unsure about the parameters.
Unfortunately, most tutorials or examples start like this :
"Just for argument's sake, let's pretend that MySQL is already installed on
your system, and you have a valid username and
password for an existing database. Let's also assume that you've created a
table on that database, called..."
Thanks in advance,
Robin
