is there any particular reason for you to upgrade from 3.0.x to 3.0.17 ?
I advice you to use the newest PHP 4.0.3 ...
file uploads work beautifully nice over there ... some build-in functions
are also available.
Like is_uploaded() will check and then copy your file on it's own right into
a tmp directory...
that's much nicer to play with instead of upgrading from oldest to older ...
..
don't you think?

Subject: [PHP] File Upload Fails After Upgrading to 3.0.17
Hello,
After upgrading from PHP 3.0.x to 3.0.17 on our RedHat-Linux/Apache machine,
our web server is no longer accepting form input with encoding
multipart/form-data. Submission of such forms returns an immediate "Document
Contains No Data" error.
For example, the following simple form fails:
<?
$exportFile = "/uploads/uploadedFile";
if (isset($userfile)) {
copy($userfile,$exportFile);
unlink($userfile);
}
?>
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head> <title>Upload Example</title> </head>
<body>
<form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="upload.php3"
method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="5000">
<input type="file" name="userfile">
<input type="submit" name="service" value="Upload!">
</form>
</body>
</html>
NOTE: This script fails even if the PHP code is removed-- it seems the
server will now simply not accept multipart/form-data forms.
Does anyone on this list have an idea what could be the problem?
Please copy me on any replies, as I'm temporarily unsubscribed to the list
traffic while traveling.
Many, many thanks in advance,
