I like the idea...
I use (not yet actually, but that's what I am testing) a 'virtual website'
where there are no files at all, except one only template.
every request goes through apache's mod_rewrite and assigns the requested
file to a variable passed to the template, then by using the method I showed
in my previous email where $SCRIPT_NAME in my code is the variable received,
I calculate what database to connect to and what data to show, what template
to use, what navigation is needed etc...
but for a simple use, that way is very nice...

Shrotcut for this - I just whack a file called
"directoryname" in each directory, and have PHP read it
using your method to tell what directory it's in, and
build a navigation heirarchy from that. :)
