Connecting SYBASE (ASE 11.9.2)

I have configured my machine with Sybase 11.9.2 client and now, after
loading the sybase module, I am trying to connect using sybase_connect
function but when I try to do this the Apache server crash and the IIS just
returns nothing. On the other hand it seems works fine when using Sybase
ODBC for the connection.
Is anybody working with ASE 11.9.2 and using the native drivers for the
connection?
