Undefined function - mysql_connect() - php5?

I have installed PHP5 on IIS. When I try to make a connection the the MySQL
database with the following code:
$conn = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die("Unable to
connect");
I get the following error in the browser:
Undefined function my_sqlconnect().
What can be the problem?
I uninstalled PHP5 and installed PHP4 and then I can make a connection
without any problems...
Please shed some light anyone!!
