Nope, GD's PNG support is pretty crappy. It's basically a drop-in replacement of the gif support that was removed. This means no alpha support, and only indexed palettes. That's what I realized after I sent this email and dug a bit more in GD :(((
If you're running a Unix platform, php_imlib may be more helpful, it has full support of libpng, including alpha channels. See http://mmcc.cx/php_imlib/ for more information. Thanks for the link !!!!! This is very cool and looks like it s what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to compile it in the module. I tried ./buildconf; ./configure --with-imlib but the process doesn't recognize the Imlib extension and doesn't compile the support in php :((( using the dl() function works fine, but I want to use this on a server that does nothing else thean generating images, so I would like to have everything compiled in to optimize for speed. Anyway, a great thanks for the tools I need. If you need help with writing documentation, let me know. I think that this image library should replace the GD library since it offers more powerful functions. -- Thierry Coopman - thierry@keytrade.com My opinions are personal, and have really nothing or nothing to do with Keytrade!
