FORBIDDEN

Hey Guyz... I am having this very unusual problem with apache. I wanted to make a particular directory called admin under htdocs password protected...but couldn't get taht to work..I was confused.. SO I deleted apache directory from my linux box and also php directory. I planned to reinstall it. After reinstalling I found out that the problem of password protecting the directory was with APACHE. Any directory I create under APACHE show FORBIDDEN..on requesting it from the browser. I didn't touch the httpd.conf file after reinstalling APACHE.......but the problem is that Even if I make any new directories under apache's htdocs directory..they show me Forbiddeen when I acces them as: http://127.0.0.1/Directory Can anybody tell me what the problwm could be and how it can be solved...
