because you don't get the value of $varname from your session environment but from your php environment. you did $varname = "hello"; and then echo "$varname"; ofcourse you will still get "hello" because your assigned hello to your variable. What you did is register it in the current session and then unset it. What you need to to to empty the var completely is session_unregister("varnam"); unset($varname); Grtz, dowebwedo Jeroen Wesbeek .programming St. Jacobsstraat 16 Postbus 448 | 3500 AK Utrecht The Netherlands p 030 2348110 | f 030 2348605 [roses are red, violets are blue, I am schizophrenic and so am I ] -----Original Message----- From: Fatih Ustundag [mailto:fatih@yore.com.tr] Sent: dinsdag 31 oktober 2000 10:09 To: Php2 Subject: [PHP] session_unregister??? when i write " session_name("temp"); session_start(); session_register("varname"); $varname="hello"; echo "$varname \n"; session_unregister("varname"); echo "$varname \n"; " output is "hello hello" why has $varname a value "hello" after session_unregister("varname")? -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: php-general-unsubscribe@lists.php.net For additional commands, e-mail: php-general-help@lists.php.net To contact the list administrators, e-mail: php-list-admin@lists.php.net
