You could try it as follows:
<input type="submit" value="update" name="update"
label="update">
<input type="submit" value="delete" name="delete"
label="delete">
In the PHP program that you call, you could just check the value of submit,
and do accordingly:
<?
If ($submit == "update")
{
// Do the update stuff..
}
Else
{
// Do the delete stuff..
}
?>
Hope this helps..
