My bet is that PHP4 session-handling is much more efficient than phplib's,
since phplib's is in PHP, and PHP4's is compiled, not interpreted. All the
same, phplib doesn't have the track record of being buggy that PHP4
session-handling. For instance, I could never get my PHP4 sessions to
destroy themselves. 'session_destroy()' (or whatever it is) does not work
(at least on my box).
Since sessions are really not a big deal to implement on your own, I
implemented my own light-weight session-handling class that uses a MySQL
backend and cookies.
