Take a look in PEAR directory of PHP. There's a db abstraction layer like
DBI to perl. Besides, you nearly only need to change the function names to
change a database. Then if you've make some nice structured code, this
shouldn't take much longer than changing the database type in ADO or JDBC.

Lars

Subject: [PHP] abstraction for databases
Does anyone knows why there is no abstarction for databases in PHP, but
there are several functions for each database.
I think a model as Microsoft' s ADO will make develpment and migration
of an application very easy. All you have to do is to change the type of
database. The code conserning the communication with databse remains the
same..
