Installing PHP

Hi,
I am not new to Linux but I cannot seem to be able to figure out how to install PHP...
I am using RedHat 7.0 and I used the PHP RPM to install PHP, and that did not work. Then I tried to
install it using the binaries and I keep getting an error with apxs script. I redownloaded Perl and
still it would not work.
Please can someone tell me if there is a way to install PHP or is there something that I need to do
to get it to work...?
This is the code I used to to test it

<head>
<title>Example</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php
echo "Hi, I'm a PHP script!";
?>
</body>
</html>
I saved the file as test.php and test.html
The result would be a blank page.... Please any help would be appreciated....
