Hey there,
I have had drama compiling PHP4 under RedHat 6.2, i found that using the
RPM's(in general) is painful
since there is little documetation specific to RedHat. I got the .tar.gz
source versions but still had some trouble
i eventually got round these.I assume that you got and error saying that
"your apxs script was broken or
Perl needs to be reinstalled. Best of gteetionmg all the lates version of
PHP/Apache. If you use mysql
let PHP compile with default support (leave
out --with-mysql=/path/to/mysql). make sure you point to the correct
apxs script, in your apache/bin. I found it easier to remove the RPM version
of apache and intsall it from source
although RPM may be a good idea RedHat have very strange ways of arranging
where applications are stored int he filesystem
so much so that i gave up with default apache install and downloaded source.
hope this helps
Cheers
Steven

Subject: [PHP] Installing PHP
Hi,
I am not new to Linux but I cannot seem to be able to figure out how to
install PHP...
I am using RedHat 7.0 and I used the PHP RPM to install PHP, and that did
not work. Then I tried to install it using the binaries and I keep getting
an error with apxs script. I redownloaded Perl and still it would not work.
Please can someone tell me if there is a way to install PHP or is there
something that I need to do to get it to work...?
This is the code I used to to test it
<html>
<head>
<title>Example</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php
echo "Hi, I'm a PHP script!";
?>
</body>
</html>
I saved the file as test.php and test.html
The result would be a blank page.... Please any help would be
appreciated....
Thanks
