You probably have some un-optimized queries happening. This isn't a solution to the problem, but until you solve the problem -- most likely with the un-optimized queries -- this will help to keep RAM free. You can find mbfree here: http://www.nirvani.net/software/ I run it in a loop like this in the background: #!/bin/sh while :; do sleep 300 ; mbfree 50 ; done & I also have a few un-optimized queries running on a bitch box that I don't care about. Apache used to die every few weeks or so, I figured it was most likely a resource problem. Since I run mbfree in the background, it hasn't died yet. :) -jeremy brand http://www.JeremyBrand.com/Jeremy/Brand/Jeremy_Brand.html for more --------------------------------------------------------------------- We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once. -- Calvin Coolidge On Fri, 17 Nov 2000, Yannick Chapard wrote: > Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 10:22:03 +0100 > From: Yannick Chapard <yannick@travelprice.com> > To: php-general@lists.php.net > Subject: [PHP] swap Problem > > Hi all. > > I'de like to know if someone can help me. > I have 2 server > - PIII 733 + 512 Ram + 18 Go (1Go Swap) under Linux red hat 6.2 > with apache 1.3.12 + php 4.0.0 + Zend Optimizer v0.98 > > - PIII 733 + 512 Ram + 18 Go under Linux red hat 6.2 > with Solid sql 3.0 > > Sometimes the httpd process take more than 100Mo (is it normal ??) > Sometimes i got more than 150 httpd process > and sometimes the swap is filled to more than 80%. this make the httpd > server stop > > Can someone help me? > > Regards > > Yannick >
