You can pretty much just forget about pointers in PHP. You can still
dereference your variable if you pass it into a function &$foo, this
makes the variable available for change (like a pointer)

Yes, your knowledge of C should help you greatly -- PHPs syntax is
nearly exactly like C. You will be used to all of your standard C
functions being around too -- fopen, fread, socket, listen, etc,
etc... This makes it easy, because it takes what you know how to do
already and basically just works.

In PHP, when you post, the variables are automatically available to
you -- as the names you specifiy in the NAME= field.
