PHP configure

Hello, well, i did reinstall GD, and still it cannot finish with building GD during PHP make. What i dont understand is that it seems to be looking for routines that it itself should have. ---> What is especially interesting about these error messages is that PHP is looking for GIF routines, which the newest GD does not have due to copyright problems, or something, and GD only works with PNG now. Why is PHP demanding GIF routines? I dont remember this problem the first time i installed GD, but it must have been there since both GD and php sources are the same.
