Get a couple of books. I like MySql by Paul Dubois (if you are using
mysql) and PHP4 bible by Tim Converse and Joyce Park. Others have
recommended Professional PHP put out by Wrox books but I would suggest
the bible first.
Then check out site like www.Phpbuilder.com, www.webmonkey.com, http://php.resourceindex.com
Check out www.phpwizard.com and download the mysqladmin. This routine
will show you most all of the stuff you need for database
manipulation.
There are also several sites on the web .. search using yahoo on php
and check out the various sites. Some of them are members of the
phpring so that brings you in touch with many more.
Read Read Read. Download Download Download. To me the best way to
learn is by example.
