I have done it with apache 1.3.12 and php4.0.2 using the following configure: ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local --wi th-imap=/usr/local/imap-4.6.BETA/ --with-db3=/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.3.1/ --en able -dbase I know that the above is not the version your trying to get working, but it should work just fine for what your trying to do. Might be a dumb question, but have you made sure that you compiled apache with DSO support? ./configure \ "--with-layout=Apache" \ "--prefix=/usr/local/apache" \ "--enable-module=rewrite" \ "--enable-module=proxy" \ "--enable-shared=rewrite" \ "--enable-shared=proxy" \ "--activate-module=src/modules/auth_mysql/libauth_mysql.a" \ "$@" Verify that apxs exists and that your httpd exe has mod_so.c loaded. You can do this by passing the -l switch to httpd. ./httpd -l Compiled-in modules: http_core.c mod_env.c mod_log_config.c mod_mime.c mod_negotiation.c mod_status.c mod_include.c mod_autoindex.c mod_dir.c mod_cgi.c mod_asis.c mod_imap.c mod_actions.c mod_userdir.c mod_alias.c mod_access.c mod_auth.c mod_so.c mod_setenvif.c mod_auth_mysql.c -Bob -----Original Message----- From: DaViper [mailto:daviper@pandora.be] Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2000 2:14 AM To: php-general@lists.php.net Cc: php-install@lists.php.net Subject: [PHP] PHP4.03pl1 on Freebsd 4.1.1 Hi all I'm having problems installing PHP4.03pl1 on a freebsd box with apache 1.3.14. I extracted the tarball and issued the following command: "./configure --with-zlib=/usr/include/zlib.h --with-mysql --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs" configure runs for about a minute, and then I get this error message: === Configuring SAPI modules checking for AOLserver support... no checking for Apache module support via DSO through APXS... Usage: apxs -g [-S <var>=<val>] -n <modname> apxs -q [-S <var>=<val>] <query> ... apxs -c [-S <var>=<val>] [-o <dsofile>] [-D <name>[=<value>]] [-I <incdir>] [-L <libdir>] [-l <libname>] [-Wc,<flags>] [-Wl,<flags>] <files> ... apxs -i [-S <var>=<val>] [-a] [-A] [-n <modname>] <dsofile> ... apxs -e [-S <var>=<val>] [-a] [-A] [-n <modname>] <dsofile> ... configure: error: Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Either you need to install Perl or you need to pass the absolute path of apxs by using --with-apxs=/absolute/path/to/apxs === Anyone know how to get past this? I would like to compile php as a module for apache, not built in.
