The above to quotes are sort of contradictory.
Anyways:
I have worked with the following PHPLIB features:
- session handling
- database abstraction layer
I haven't worked with, e.g., the cart or form-utility aspects of PHPLIB.
I did not like PHPLIB's session support; I found it rather painful,
actually. If you need session handling, then go for PHP 4's native
session support.
On the other hand, I _very_ much like PHPLIB's database abstraction
layer.
So my suggestion is to consider PHPLIB's database features but ignoring
its optional session facilities. Staying away from PHPLIB's session
support may also mean that you can't use its cart-class, but I'm not
sure about that.
PEAR (PHP's planned analogue to Perl's CPAN) has an early database
abstraction layer framework which may be the way to go in the future.
However, at the moment PEAR is not useful, I think.
