Did you restart apache?
% su
% updatedb
% locate apachectl
Then when you find apachectl, use it to restart apache:
% /path/to/apachectl stop
(wait a few seconds)
% /path/to/apachectl start
Then create a file with:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>
and load it in your browser.
if that doesn't work, try:
% httpd -l
And make sure you indeed have php4 compiled in since you didn't build
a DSO.
