Nope, dropping mcrypt doesn't solve things. Droping zlib however appears to.
This would be really suprising if it made it through QA... I suspect it's a
problem on my system somwhere, though where that is is beyond me, 4.0.3pl1
compiles and installs just fine, so I'll be sticking to that until the new
release has had time to stabalize.
A plain 4.0.4 config/compile without imap/zlib/mcrypt worked fine.
