Hi Cynic Well, it was some time ago when I compiled PDFlib.. But I did use the enable-shared-pdflib command.. But it's quite complex, to compile PHP with PDFlib. You need a zlib, jpg and tiff package for PDFlib.. These should be compiled before you can compile PDFlib, then you compile the PDFlib package, after which you need to compile PHP with PDFlib, and after this you can compile Apache.. :-) Here came the error because PHP couldn't find the PDFlib files.. It was such a trouble that when I got it working I didn't want to experiment with other (=newer) PDFlib versions.. But, I will look at it soon if I can compile PHP 4.04 with a new version of PDFlib. I know that there were patches available for the pdflib.c file, but it was such a hassle that I didn't do it.. These patches will have been probably added to PHP 4.04. Also PDFlib had some known problems with file-closing.. Etc etc.. Maybe it has been fixed.. I wish that there was a package which consists of a huge tar file which contains PHP + PDFlib + ClibPDF + GD library + some other general stuff that I haven't discovered which has been tested to compile on popular operating system and which has got an script which compiles all seperate needed packages automatically, installs them, and then gives you the option to compile a PHP module/cgi version with all the stuff.. Sometimes I get crazy when I need to download 4 extra packages to get a package which I need for PHP to work.. :-) Especially like last time when I wanted to install the GD library, which also needed another library.. And during the compilation of PHP I got an error that PHP couldn't compile because the new version of the GD library didn't hjave any GIF functions because of copyright problems.. A pitty that the older versions can't easily be found elsewhere.. Maybe a list of a package + version number a PHP release was succesfully tested with + URL's where to get them would be great with each release of PHP.. Then you at least know that the package should be able to compile.. Well, at least everything is working fine here again with PHP 4.02.. And to end it all, I love PHP, it's a great language...
