Running mod-php under su-exec

Hi all,
I am just wondering if it is possible to run pages with PHP as a different
user using su-exec or some other method when PHP is built as a module.
If the answer is negative what is the serure way of accessing a database
(pgsql)?
Please forgive me if these are trivial questions.
