The PHP4 installed on our production machine apparently cannot
resolve ip addresses when using "fopen wrapper" functions. For
example if I issue a command like:
$page = file ("http://www.any_host_here.com");
I obtain the following error:
Warning: file("http://www.any_host_here.com") -
Bad file descriptor in /z/www/test/fopen.php on line 2
On the contrary if I issue the following:
$page = file ("http://100.50.25.1");
there is no problem.
Obviously PHP is compiled with fopen wrappers on and network and dns
are ok (ping or wget for example work well resolving correctly ip
numbers).
The machine runs BSD/OS 4.1 / PHP 4.0.3pl1 / Apache 1.3.11
I don't want to use absolute ip to open external files!
Any ideas, suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.
