Dear Uwe and Cameron, I found a thread of a few months ago about building FDF support into PHP3. Over the last few days, I have been trying to do this and have encountered many of the same problems that Cameron did: complaints about compliling with glibc and not libc5 (_xstat not found), libFdfTk.so not found, etc. I'm hoping one of you can help me with this as I'm at about the end of my rope. I'll just start with what I've done so far: mkdir /root/php_install/lib cp /root/fdftk/lib/C/Unix/i586-linux/GNU3.0/libFdfTk.so.3.0 /root/php_install/lib/ cp /root/fdftk/lib/C/Unix/i586-linux/GNU3.0/libfdftk.so /root/php_install/lib/libFdfTk.so [This was already confusing because the FdfTk dist came with another version of libFdfTk, in the directory ~/fdftk/lib/C/Unix/i586-linux/] I then installed the following distributions: libc5-devel-5.4.38-3.i386 gcc-libc5-2.7.2.3-1.i386.rpm (libc5.3.12-31) [I couldn't find a libc5 and a lic5-devel that matched ... maybe this is my problem??? Also does the gcc-libc5 need to match? It's a different versioning scheme though] I added the following to the beginning of the PHP configure file: CFLAGS="-nostdinc -I/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/include -I/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linuxlibc5/2.7.2.3/include -b i486-linuxlibc5" LDFLAGS="-b i486-linuxlibc5" I then ran configure like this: rm -f config.cache ; ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-mysql --with-xml --with-fdftk=/root/fdftk4_05/lib/C/php-install This runs, and the FdfTk section of the debug output looks like this: checking whether to include fdftk support... yes checking for FDFOpen in -lFdfTk... yes When I run make, however, I get the following error: [root@adsl-63-192-195-170 php-3.0.16]# make gcc -nostdinc -I/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/include -I/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linuxlibc5/2.7.2.3/include -b i4 86-linuxlibc5 -O2 -m486 -fno-strength-reduce -DLINUX=2 -DEAPI -DUSE_EXPAT -I../lib/expat-lite -fpic - DSHARED_MODULE -I. -I. -I/usr/include/apache -I/root/fdftk4_05/lib/C/php-install/incl ude -I/usr/include/freetype -I/usr/include/mysql -I/usr/include/apache -c language-parser.tab.c -o language-parser.tab.o gcc: Warning: use of obsolete %[ operator in specs In file included from language-parser.y:52: php.h:102: dlfcn.h: No such file or directory In file included from /usr/include/apache/ap_config.h:116, from php.h:199, from language-parser.y:52: /usr/include/apache/os.h:117: dlfcn.h: No such file or directory In file included from php.h:199, from language-parser.y:52: /usr/include/apache/ap_config.h:1078: sys/select.h: No such file or directory make: *** [language-parser.tab.o] Error 1 These header files look like they may have been dropped in libc6: [root]# find /usr/include/ -name '*dlfcn*' /usr/include/bits/dlfcn.h /usr/include/dlfcn.h [root]# find /usr/i486-linuxlibc5/ -name '*dlfcn*' [root@adsl-63-192-195-170 php-3.0.16]# [root]# find /usr/include/ -name 'select.h' /usr/include/bits/select.h /usr/include/sys/select.h [root]# find /usr/i486-linuxlibc5/ -name 'select.h' [root@adsl-63-192-195-170 php-3.0.16]# Any ideas? I really appreciate the help as I'm getting really frustrated. I've tried lots of other things that I haven't mentioned here, but none of them have worked either! Also, once I get it to build, do I have to do anything special to make sure that the libFdfTk.so and libc5.so DLLs can get linked in (Once I did get it to compile, but I got an error when trying to start up httpd: "Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/libphp3.so into server: libFdfTk.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or director" Thanks so so much, ben.
