Selecting which SMTP server to send mail by in PHP?

Hi is there any way for me to control which server I send mail to
in PHP (my version is 3.0.15, but I could upgrade to 4 got to get
around to that soon), my problem is I want to swap servers if one
goes down, I can do it from my C++Builder program but I don't
know how in PHP.
