WAP and PHP

Hi, I am trying to dynamically create WML pages using PHP and mysql. I can get the PHP to output WML however I am having problems with postfields. They do not seem to be populating the $HTTP_POST_VARS array. Has anyone come across this before and no why this is the case. I could create the query string myself and create links in the code but as far as I can tell the postfield should send variables through to the script.
