i want to get gzip of html working to try and keep this bandwidth down,
after Zeev explained it could be done I realised how handy it is. . .
http://outworld.no-ip.com/header.phps
http://outworld.no-ip.com/prepend.inc.phps
http://outworld.no-ip.com/append.inc.phps
what looks to be going wrong is that when it sends the data to the
client it isnt sending a gzip header :( when i use netscape and ie to
view the page they fail the code, but when i use lynx gzip fails the
file . . . i am using PHP 4.0.1 with everything under the sun compiled
into it and also zend optimizer enable on optimize level 15.
I messed around with it a little bit as well without success. From what I read you have to send a Header('Content-Encoding: gzip');
The problem as I understand it (according to someone else's wisdom from this list) is that the headers aren't sent in the correct order, or something like that. I also seem to remember a few other encoding types, like compress and I think implode or similar.
In case you didn't know already, using lynx to get the headers is quite handy - just run lynx -head
http://my.url/whatever.php
However, if you figure it out I'd love to know how, compressed Html is far overdue.
