yes that's a good point. perhaps something above the
commented out line is leaving the PHP parser in a
funny state, and it's not recognizing your attempt to
comment the line.
try an echo before and after your commented line, like
this:
echo("Before commented line.");
#echo ... your line
echo("After commented line.");
if that fails, then maybe PHP is not handling comments
correctly. I do think I read about not nesting
comments. maybe there are other caveats?
also, just for fun, try using /* <your code> */ and
//.
