Please feel free to correct this irritation in your source code and submit
a patch...
It's probably that way mostly because that's what could be done in the
time available to the authors.
I would expect the OO system of PHP to evolve as time goes on, perhaps
some day approaching the nirvana of Lisp :-) Or at least getting closer
to Java. So long as it doesn't stay so much like C++ [shudder]
