What is the affiliation? Is it one big company? Or are they just cooperating?PHP is an opensource project; It's published by the PHP Group, which is an independent, not-for-profit group of people that works on developing PHP (it doesn't include all of the developers who work on PHP). At some point it'll be replaced by the PHP Association, which is an actual legal entity, which will have the same role. Zend Technologies is a company that focuses on PHP related development. It was founded by Andi Gutmans and myself, both of which are members of the PHP Group. Zend Technologies' retains the ownership of the OpenSource Zend engine, which is the beast that makes PHP 4.0 tick; However it licensed it to the PHP Group for use inside PHP with no strings attached, and in a non-revokable manner. PHP remains completely free and OpenSource. Zeev -- Zeev Suraski <zeev@zend.com> http://www.zend.com/
