Details are system specific but you'd basically need to:
1) Add new host or domain to DNS server
2) (maybe) modify configuration files for any program that will need to use
the new host or domain.
It could be simpler if you only need the end user to see that hosts like
abc.domain.com exist and they all really point to the same webserver. In
that case, you could add a single wildcard DNS record pointing to your
webserver and use something like mod_rewrite to make requests for
http://abc.domain.com/ act as if the user really chose
http://www.domain.com/custom.php?host=abc&page=/.
