Christopher Thompson:
People regularly mention Image Magick as a good solution for any image manipulation.

Do U know any solution to this outside the scope of php ?
Rasmus also posted a function a while back concerning a query I made about ImageMagick and gd that does what you want, but it uses NetPBM. I finally ended up using his solution, instead of ImageMagick or gd. The site seems to be down (or at least from here it is unreachable): <http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/> You can find a little info here, which is a bookmark I made while looking for more information on NetPBM: <http://www.jcu.edu.au/docs/netpbm/netpbmjcu.html> (although it seems rather old). The post with the function Rasmus sent: <http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=php-general&m=96191852716179&w=2> His solution has a few bells and whistles with it (like padding and drop shadows) but you can remove those parts if you wish. NetPBM has a load of stuff that comes with it. Brian
